PELOTON
was formed by Eero Savela and Pentti Luomakangas in 2004. Bassplayer Tero Siitonen and Hannu Risku, the drummer, joined afterwards. Soon Peloton was already involved in a freejazzballet in Taidehalli (Helsinki City Art Museum) in an exhibition of a marvelous artist -Maria Duncker. An improvising dance company, RIO REAL TIME ORCHESTRA (Riikka Theresa Innanen, Giorgio Convertito, Michael Stoeckel) did the dancing and Roosa Voima was involved with her grace and spokenword performance of Pelle Miljoona`s lyrics in German. This spectacular show left some stunned people behind. Althought working under file -" jazz", the group also performed "War Pigs" of Black Sabbath as a choir. War Pigs, antimilitary message, blood and great music tunes, costumes by Maria Duncker was a great start for the band.Peloton started making collaboration with Kinos String Quartet. The repertoire of the group started widening since new possibilities were at hand. Soon pieces "Forum for Peace" and "Samurai" clearly showed that Peloton had outlived its main concept as playing fierce and fiery music even though those elements are still heavily present in the music . Exciting musical worlds were to conquer. Peloton and Kinos String Quartet made a tour in Italy in 2006 which showed that the collaboration was a success. Plans for a recording took quite long and in the end of 2008 Tapani Varis replaced Tero on the bass and the octet went to a studio to record the debut CD. In just 3 days all the the tracks were recorded in January 2009 by Marko Ylianttila, the sound engineer. The group is happy with the results. The CD will be released in April 2009. Peloton Trio will perform in a new choreography of JENNI KIVELÄ in the center for new dance -ZODIAK in May 2009.
New album: Funeral, Circus & Other Music is out now! Published by Lilith and distributed by Playground Music Finland. Thanks to Esek and Luses for their financial support.
